The Dental Dentures Process
Your dental dentures process starts soon after you experience the loss of your teeth, either naturally or because of dental extraction. Once your tooth is extracted or lost, the underlying socket starts filling with bone and gum tissues, thereby changing your dental anatomy slightly. The entire gum and bone regeneration process take a few weeks. Your dentist may wait until you’ve reached a stable shape to prepare the full or partial dentures.
After 8 to 12 weeks, once your gum and bone tissues are stabilized, the dentist will take impressions of your teeth and oral tissues. These impressions will be sent to the dental laboratory, which will prepare the ideal set of full or partial dentures according to your anatomy, goals, and the dentist’s recommendations. You will have to return to the dentist once the dentures are prepared for your fitting, followed by regular follow-up sessions for a few weeks.
However, your dentist will also provide temporary dentures while your permanent dentures are being prepared. After your tooth extraction, the dentist will provide immediate dentures based on your dental anatomy before the tooth extraction. These dentures are only worn for a few weeks, and they necessitate constant adjustment, following which they can be replaced by your complete dentures. The entire process takes several visits, but it’s simple and non-invasive.
